I got a phone call from Cody's mom asking me if I could take senior pictures inside of a gym, because he likes to lift weights. I of course said, "Yes!" without hesitating.
In my mind, I am thinking a senior who likes to lift weights.... this will be fun. He might be a little bit of a show off, but honestly, I was afraid that the pictures might lean a little towards the "wanna be" weight-lifter pictures......
I said I would meet him at the gym. When I got there, I was greeted by this tall, big guy. My first thought is "he works here". Then when he asked me if I was the photographer, my thought was, "Oh he is Cody's personal trainer." Nope!
I WAS TOTALLY WRONG!!
This is Cody:
This kid can lift weights!!
He told me that he was going to dead lift the bar on the rack and that I could snap away as soon as he got the weight on his shoulders.... I quickly added up all the weight on that bar:
500 LBS!
Panic started to set in!
Uh, there was NO WAY that I was going to help him if he got in trouble! All I could think is that the only help I would be if something went wrong is calling 911 when he was flattened by all of this weight!!
WOW! Is all I could say. So impressive!
He is headed to Nationals next week. All self taught and self trained! He is going somewhere in life! Not only in body building, but to have that kind of determination and discipline in life all on his own.
I am in awe for more than a couple reasons.
I had to laugh when I realized how understated his mom was about the whole thing!
These turned out AWESOME! Congrats Cody and good luck next week!!
